Rigs of rods mods set up
If the snow I am pushing is heavy and deep, I simply increase the angle of my blade, which makes it very easy for my atv to push through the snow. Therefore, it is easier for me to push the snow off to the side. My (electronic) actuator also moves the plow blade a greater range (left/right) than the hydraulic actuators do. Then, I removed the latch which originally held the turnstyle in place. When I added my actuator, I did have to weld a couple of mounts (for each end of the actuator). However, they all cost over $1000 and require a fair amount of modification to your mount. I must say that the actuator is 'incredible, wonderful, fantastic, awesome! The total cost to me was around $150. The electronic actuator I used is capable of pushing/pulling 2000 lbs, which is more then enough strength to hold up well on the plow. As I mention in the above referenced thread, many factors are important as we seek to have the 'ideal plow setup.' The vertical rocker switch activates my winch (UP/DOWN) and the horizontal rocker switch turns the blade LEFT/RIGHT. Here are a few pictures which show the actuator I built, the rocker switches on the (left side) of the handbars. Highlifter springs on the front end of my atv give me very nice support and keep the front end from sinking when I lift my plow. I built an electronic actuator which (electrically) allows me to turn my blade left/right without getting off the atv - VERY NICE!! I can even turn the blade one way or the other as I am plowing and moving. However, I am (finally) very happy where I am presently at: I have a 60" blade and it is connected to a Front Mount (which has MANY advantages, but most of all allows me to stack and lift snow high, rather than just push it). I've gone through many different brands of plows, winches, and plow types. My plow setup has been many years in the making. HondaGav, The wings are useful as they keep snow from falling off the ends of the plow blade even when the blade is turned. Have NO problem saying a MOOSE plow is a tough a$$ sucker! I got my moneys worth out of my plow that's for sure HAHA!Īnd its been 16 yrs now of me doing this to it, and it still works great!

RIGS OF RODS MODS SET UP FULL
Two FULL tri axle dump truck loads and then a third truck, about 1/3 fullĪnd then used plow countless times on other things all yr long LOL Here is a pile of broken up drive way material I moved with my plow this past summer, I forget how much, I think it was like 46 tons? I replace my winch line every other yr, or at cut it back 6-8 ft to have new for winter timeĪnd IN/Out switches, I replace them as needed and keep a spare handy, as over the yrs I have killed many of them from the thousands of in/outs a yr I doĬontacts wear down and stop working from all the use! and found they tend to ALWAYS die in a snow storm, so, rather than have down time I keep extra handy now! I replace wear bar and skids as needed(I wear out skids every other yr or sooner), I sand and paint as needed, I treated by push tubes with a bed liner coating Only mods I tend to make is, I filled the hollow ends up with expanding foam to keep crap out Hell I use mine all yr< it see work all the time
